Robin Wivell will run for Washington County Board of Education

According to multiple sources who attended the Washington County Republican Club meeting earlier this evening, Robin Wivell, the spouse of Delegate William J. Wivell, announced that she intends to file as a candidate for the Washington County Board of Education.

Wivell, an ultra-right-wing Tea Party loyalist, ran for county commissioner in 2010 but failed to advance into the general election.

Mrs. Wivell will likely join Stan Stouffer and Melissa Williams – both largely considered total disasters by the Washington County community as a whole – as part of a Board of Education slate.

Known locally as a Tea Party obstructionist with a woefully underwhelming grasp on education policy, Robin Wivell’s candidacy would only further damage and erode the board’s standing not only in Washington County but around the state.

Wivell is controlled by extremist elements within the Trump faction of the Republican Party. She would almost certainly be controlled by the Hagerstown Tea Party, the same organization who continues to passionately defend Woody Spong’s inappropriate comments and racist memes.

I’ll offer a full profile on Robin Wivell in a later post. I emphatically urge Washington County to reject Wivell and her extremist Tea Party obstructionist agenda.
