Two judicial officers, Judge Adams and Magistrate Raymond, have resorted to using the power of their public office to silence A Miner Detail.
A Miner Detail takes pride in our investigative journalism.
We have taken on the difficult stories, investigating all levels of the government and political entities.
During the course of our investigations, we always make enemies.
That has never stopped us from pursuing the truth.
We have been made aware of a serious affront to the freedom of the press.
Two of the subjects of A Miner Detail articles have resorted to using their power in the Judiciary and exerting undue influence over law enforcement against Eric Beasley.
State’s Attorney Charlie Smith complains about Judge Theresa Adams
Eric began his investigation into the Frederick County Courthouse months ago concerning Judge Theresa Adams, who is up for election this year.
A Miner Detail is in possession of documents authored by deputies of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Magistrate Joanie Raymond (aka Joanmarie Brubaker, aka Jray Brubaker).
These documents indicate that Judge Adams and Magistrate Raymond contacted law enforcement concerning Eric Beasley as retaliation for coverage of their judicial decisions and conduct.
Judge Theresa Adams spoke to a “D Patton”, and then LT John Benner of the FCSO on the morning of February 13th, 2020.
Magistrate Raymond e-mailed her report to multiple Deputies on February 17th, 2020.
No Actual Threats Occurred
LT Benner wrote an e-mail recounting his conversation with Judge Adams, which states “We did not see anything threatening, except for comments made by someone responding to Beasley’s post“.
Mr. Beasley made no threat, in any medium, concerning Judge Adams and Magistrate Raymond.
Any such allegations is an outright lie, fabricated by the Frederick Judiciary as retaliation for A Miner Detail’s reporting.
A Miner Detail reached out to the commentator referenced, which stated that no law enforcement has contacted them.
A Miner Detail maintains that the only security risks associated with Judge Adams’ courtroom are the child rape victims, whose attackers are sentenced to 18 months in jail.
The only security risks in Magistrate Raymond’s courtroom are the children she places in the care of their abusive parents.
LT Benner also stated “Judge Adams did not want us to contact Beasley at all“.
While these statements were written by LT Benner, it was in fact Sergeant Amanda Ensor which conducted the interview.
A Miner Detail intends to publish the full documents with commentary at a future date.
The result of their investigation was the creation of a security bulletin with Eric Beasley’s name on it.
This bulletin contained a dossier on our reporter.
This bulletin was distributed to Sheriff’s Deputies, Frederick Police Department, and Brunswick Police Department.
Judge Adams Denies PIA Request
A Miner Detail requested this dossier through a PIA and was denied.
The statements from LT Benner of the FCSO was not enough to end it.
Magistrate Joanie Raymond
Magistrate Raymond wrote a hyperbolic, militaristic, and mythomanic e-mail to multiple Sheriff’s Deputies.
Raymond states on February 17th, 2020, “Eric Beasley is on a warpath right now“, “He has gotten more vicious“, “Everything he said was bullshit, except for the bit of poor judgement I exercised last St. Patrick’s Day in a joking post I put up about my Irish heritage. It seemed funny at the time, but not so much now that it’s being thrown in my face.”
Magistrate Joanie Raymond shared a meme on Facebook which stated “I’m sick of all the Irish stereotypes. As soon as I finish this drink, I’m punching someone.
Raymond’s other complaints concern her financial disclosures, in which she claimed under penalty of perjury that she received $240,000 in salary from a corporation that did not exist.
Raymond continues, “Anyways, when the AOC released my financial disclosures, they accidentally forgot in one place to redact my home address. So I wanted to give you a heads up that this guy knows my home address (and who knows if he will try to publish it), but also that he’s out there.”
On many occasions, A Miner Detail has received PIA and FOIA responses which are unredacted or contains records which are not releasable.
A Miner Detail has published a total of 5 articles (here, here, here, here, and here) on the Frederick County Courts.
The reader can decide what was “vicious” or “bullshit” about these articles.
As long-time A Miner Detail readers know, Eric works in information security and uses his professional skills for journalistic endeavors.
We utilize publicly available information and correlation from multiple sources to get to the bottom of our stories.
A Miner Detail firmly stands behind Eric Beasley’s reporting of Judge Theresa Adams’ actual record in the courtroom and Magistrate Joanie Raymond’s financial/judicial impropriety.
No employees from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office have reached out to Eric. Nor has any action been taken against Eric as a result of these claims.
A Miner Detail has reached out to Theresa Adams’ campaign and Maryland Judiciary for comments on previous articles and not received any comment.
Due to safety concerns for our reporter and his family, we did not reach out for comment concerning this article.
