DEMOCRAT DAVID BLAIR ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY EXECUTIVE

OneMontgomery Theme Will Demonstrate that Good Government Can Work for Everyone

ROCKVILLE, MD – David T. Blair announced his intention to run in the Democratic primary for Montgomery County Executive in 2018, succeeding nearly 12 years of strong leadership by Isaiah ‘Ike’ Leggett.

A progressive Democrat, Blair is a highly successful entrepreneur, a lifelong Montgomery County resident and a passionate advocate for affordable and accessible healthcare.  David and his wife Mikel devote much of their time supporting Montgomery County’s cultural, educational and community organizations expand their impact and ability to institute positive change.  They have been major contributors to groups that aim to end poverty and homelessness, promote healthy living, and provide quality early childhood education.

Previously, Mr. Blair served as the Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst Health Solutions from its formation in 1999, to its sale in 2012.  Catalyst provided millions of Americans access to more affordable medications while improving the delivery of care.  Catalyst created hundreds of jobs in Maryland and thousands more across the country.  As County Executive Mr. Blair would replicate many of the innovative solutions he brought within healthcare delivery, to Montgomery’s education, transportation, and economic growth sectors.

“Our County is twice the size from when I was a child growing up here and our school population is outpacing the number of classroom seats.  As our community evolves, we face new challenges which need to be addressed in a manner that preserves our outstanding services, while ensuring a better quality of life for those that are struggling,” said Blair.

“Our county needs someone with a fresh perspective, a long-term vision and proven leadership to guide us into the next decade.  As the next County Executive, I would bring a strong background in growing revenues and a firm commitment to progressive, Democratic principles.

“On issues from preserving choice for women, combating climate change, protecting immigrants and standing up for civil and human rights, our county can lead the way,” Blair added.  “We will not be swayed by the backwards policies of the Trump administration and we will demonstrate that government can be a force for good and work for everyone.”

Blair’s OneMontgomery campaign will reach out and visit voters in every city, town and unincorporated area in the county leading up to the June Democratic Primary to explore the issues and challenges impacting our diverse communities.
