Frederick Co. Executive Jan Gardner dismisses Peace Order against protester

By Eric Beasley

A Miner Detail was on-site Wednesday morning at Frederick County District Court for a temporary peace order hearing between Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner and Shaun Porter of New Market, Maryland.

Frederick County’s Assistant County Attorney Byron Black requested the Court dismiss the peace order Gardner filed on Feb. 11 against Porter.

A District Court judge subsequently dismissed the order.

A Miner Detail is working to confirm if Black’s entered attorney appearance was representative of the County and whether taxpayer dollars were expended to resolve a legal matter between a private citizen and the county executive.

When the hearing concluded, Black did not answer questions, nor did he identify himself as a Frederick County employee.

A Miner Detail will soon publish a lengthy editorial about the matter, written by Deputy Editor Eric Beasley.
