Group Praises Madaleno’s Leadership & Potential to be First-Ever Governor in a Same-Sex Marriage
Kensington, MD – Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Senator Rich Madaleno was endorsed by Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing openly LGBTQ candidates who can further equality at all levels of government.
From Victory Fund’s Release:
“Victory Fund is thrilled to endorse Rich Madaleno for Governor of Maryland. Rich’s history of success in passing smart and progressive public policy — including his leadership role in making the freedom to marry the law of the land in Maryland — makes him the obvious choice for Marylanders. And while there have been other LGBTQ candidates for Governor in Maryland, he is the first to receive our endorsement,” said Victory Fund President & CEO Aisha C. Moodie-Mills. “Rich has the opportunity to make history as the first person with a same-sex spouse ever elected to a governor’s office in America. We are proud to support Rich as he charts a path to victory in the June primary and the November general election. Rich Madaleno will be the experienced, progressive Governor Marylanders deserve, and also a vital LGBTQ voice nationally.”
Victory Fund will provide campaign, fundraising and other support to Madaleno as an endorsed candidate. Since 1991, Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win local, state and federal elections.
Senator Rich Madaleno thanked Victory Fund for their support:
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Victory Fund,” said Sen. Madaleno. “Though I’m running for office to drive real change and make a positive difference in the lives of every single Marylander, I’m particularly excited to be a role model for other LGBTQ individuals and anyone who sees barriers to achieving their dreams.”
Rich Madaleno has served Montgomery County for 15 years in the Maryland General Assembly.
