National Security officials endorse Dave Harden for Congress

America was not built on fear.

America was built on courage, imagination, and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.

— Harry S. Truman

To Our Fellow Citizens,

Our country was founded on the principles of democracy. And while we continue to evolve in our democratic experiment, we are indeed an extraordinary nation that cherishes freedom, independence, liberty, and the unshakeable belief that anything is possible.

We also understand the gift of democracy requires care and nurturing of our institutions, society, and norms.

Our job is to protect and defend our democratic legacy for the generations to come.

We are public servants who have dedicated our careers and, in many cases, risked our lives for the United States.

We are former diplomats, military officers, and national security officials. Like you, we love our country.

Unfortunately, we also worry about its future.

The Capitol Hill violence on Jan. 6th sounded an alarm that all freedom-loving Americans could not ignore.

We must support servant-leaders who stand on democratic principles, the foundation of our great nation.

We, therefore, endorse Dave Harden in his bid to represent Maryland’s First District as its next Member of Congress.

Dave Harden is guided by the principles that have long made America great. He believes that:

  1. We must defend democracy against all enemies, foreign and domestic; 2. America’s moral authority, economic power, and military strength are essential to our own standing, security, and prosperity in the world;
  2. A free press keeps those in power accountable to the people; and
  3. The nation must demonstrate enduring gratitude to those who have served and sacrificed to protect our independence.

Our elected representatives must uphold the Constitution, protect our democracy, and respect the outcome of our elections.

The 2022 congressional election is important to our future. Dave Harden is the candidate who will restore honor, decency, and integrity to Maryland’s First District.

Sincerely,
