MoCo Republicans blast Democrats for playing identity politics

By Ryan Miner

Montgomery County Legislative District 15 Republicans released an email blast on Sunday morning, August 20, affixed with a cartoon image of a child, ostensibly blasting Democrats for playing identity politics, one week and a day after white nationalists and Neo-Nazi groups collided with mostly peaceful protesters and some members of the anti-fascist group, Antifa, in Charlottesville, Va.

The District 15 email blast mentions nothing about racists, white nationalists or Neo-Nazis, nor does the email mention the murder of Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old woman who was killed when a 20-year-old man with strong white supremacists views rammed his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counterprotesters in Charlottesville, also injuring 19, according to Charlottesville police.

District 15’s email to subscribers does, however, seemingly blame Democrats for playing identity politics. The email concluded with the child believing she is a Republican.
