Linda Jean Murray, a special education paraprofessional employed by Washington County Public Schools, has filed today to run for a seat on the Washington County Board of Education.
A statement announcing Murray’s candidacy was released earlier today via a public Facebook page entitled, “Friends of Linda Murray.”
Murray’s announcement reads as follows:
“Linda is finalizing her campaign platform and wants to hear from members of the community about the issues that are important to them. Feel free to comment here and check back for updates on the campaign.”
Murray’s public Facebook page provides the following details about her work information:
“Paraprofessional special education, Washington County Public Schools, 1990 – 2016.”
Murray’s public Facebook page also provides her education background:
Hagerstown Community College, 1998 and North Hagerstown High School, 1972.”
Murray’s campaign website, LindaMurrayForSchoolBoard.com, is listed on both the Marland State Board of Elections Website and her public Facebook page. Murray’s website was registered today by her son, Robert. Murray’s website also lists her campaign email address at FriendsofLindaMurray@gmail.com.
According to state records, Murray is a registered Republican. She has yet to open a campaign finance account with the Maryland State Board of Elections.
So far, only three other candidates have filed to run for the Board of Education, including, Stan Stouffer, Al Martin and Board of Education president Donna Brightman. According to Herald-Mail Media, Board of Education incumbent Wayne Ridenour is still undecided on a 2016 bid; Melissa Williams, however, told the newspaper she intends to file for reelection.
The deadline to file for office is February 3. Maryland will hold its primary on April 26.
