They’re lying about Kefalas again, but why?

Integrity matters. It really matters. I spend a lot of time here on A Miner Detail providing fair and accurate reporting of the issues. I’d rather be trusted than get a few clicks on a blog. I never post anything on here that was told to me in confidence. I never assume that any conversation is “on the record” unless explicitly stated. I never lie or deceive (Exception: April 1st).

Because while writing this blog is fun, it’s far from my entire life. I have both a professional career that is reliant on honesty and I have a life outside of politics. The last thing I want to do is be “THAT GUY” that nobody can trust, inside or outside of politics.

Unfortunately, some people place site clicks above their morality. I guess the 7 Deadly Sins are only relevant when they can be thrust upon others?

The latest target of the dishonest reporting is Chrys Kefalas. We’ll get to the why later. Today’s story is that Mr. Kefalas was illegally claiming the DC Homestead Tax Credit on a property he owned in Washington DC. You know, the place he lived for the last few years while working in Washington DC.

As the curious fellow that I am, I decided to poke around. The DC website indicated that he was claiming the Homestead Tax Credit. But let’s be honest with ourselves, how efficient is Government? How often do they fail to perform their jobs? Ask any VA patient how many times they had to submit a disability claim and you will have your answer.

So I posed the question to Mr. Kefalas, did he commit fraud against the DC Government?

Since I am a honest and fair person, with personal and professional credentials to substantiate my discretion and desire to protect personal information, Mr. Kefalas was kind enough to send along the form that he filed with the DC Government.

As usual, some petty individuals just continue their Click-Bait Headline Grabs, hoping that you the voter are not interested enough to actually do your own research and find the truth. Fortunately, that’s what A Miner Detail is here for.

This also poses yet another quandary. Why is Chrys Kefalas getting so much heat over the last week? Why is he being so specifically targeted? The only real comparison is to the sustained and ongoing efforts directed at Ms. Hoeber.

I constantly hear this in whispers, multiple sources across the Maryland GOP are all saying the same thing. Being the sort of person that I am, I will go ahead and call a spade a spade.

Some Theocrats within the MDGOP are going after Mr. Kefalas because of his sexual orientation. That’s why they call him a Liberal when he is endorsed by the Log Cabin Republicans. It has nothing to do with his policies or positions. It only has to do with the fact that he is gay.

Frankly, I don’t care if a candidate is a vegan, trans-gendered, pan-sexual, poly-amorous, Pastafarian. If they want to keep the Government off my back, I’ll vote for them without regret. However, the dinosaurs of the Republican party, the ones pushing politicians who support Iranian-style Theocracy, simply cannot accept that it is not 1950 anymore and “Liberty” means that you have the right to live your life however you see fit.

Go ahead, feel free to believe homosexuality is a mortal sin. That’s your right. You can also attack them for being homosexual. That’s also your right. It’s my right to call you out for being a judgmental asshole.
