Joe Biden is coming to Maryland on June 19

Former Vice President Joe Biden is bringing his 2020 presidential campaign to Maryland on June 19.

Biden will attend two fundraisers in Montgomery County – one hosted at the home of Linda Potter & Timothy Shriver and another at the home of Stacey and David Seldin, according to an email released today by state Sen. Jim Rosapepe (D-Prince George’s) and Del. Erek Barron (D-Prince George’s).

Biden, who seeks the presidency for the third time, launched his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination on the morning of April 25.

See A Miner Detail’s coverage of Biden’s first campaign rally, held in Pittsburgh, shortly after he announced his presidential bid.

Rosapepe, a former U.S. ambassador to Romania, and Barron, a former policy advisor and legal counsel to then-Senator Biden, launched BidenforMaryland.com in April.

Biden is scheduled to make an appearance at Linda Potter and Timothy Shriver’s Chevy Chase home on the 19th. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and the suggested individual contribution is $500.

Dr. Shriver is the current chairman of the Special Olympics. His late mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a sister to the late President John F. Kennedy, founded the Special Olympics in 1968.

Shriver’s late father, Robert Sargent Shriver, was influential in creating the Peace Corps, the Job Crops and Head Start. He was the Democratic Party’s 1972 vice presidential nominee.

Biden’s second fundraiser will be held in Potomac at the home of Stacey and David Seldin. The price tag for admission begins at $2,800.

David Seldin is a co-founder of Anzu Partners, “a D.C.-based venture capital firm that invests exclusively in industrial technologies,” according to the website DC Inno.

An online bio for Seldin states that “from 1997 through 2014” he served as the president of Catalyst, Inc., “a boutique advisory and investment firm serving privately-held business and ultra-high net worth families.”

The former vice president is currently leading the Democratic field in the polls, besting his rivals in pivotal contest states like Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.
