FREDERICK, Md. — One person is dead and two others were injured in a stabbing on Danielle Drive early Monday morning, marking the third mass-casualty incident on the same residential block in less than two decades.

Frederick Police Department officers responded to the 1200 block of Danielle Drive at 6:01 a.m. on Monday, January 25, and found multiple victims in serious medical condition, the department announced

Emergency medical services rendered aid at the scene, but one victim was pronounced dead. Frederick Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, Major Crimes Unit, has assumed control of the investigation.

“Due to the ongoing nature of this active investigation, no additional details are being released at this time,” Lt. Jon Holler wrote in the release.

Police have not identified the victims, disclosed their relationships, or indicated whether a suspect is in custody. The department has not issued a shelter-in-place advisory or warned residents of an ongoing public threat.

Det. Kyle Yackovich is leading the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact him by phone or text at (240) 549-4450 or by email at KYackovich@FrederickMDPolice.org.

The department is urging residents to review security camera footage for activity related to the stabbing, which occurred during an active snow emergency that Mayor Michael O’Connor declared Saturday evening and extended through Monday.

The major winter storm that hit the region on Sunday closed Frederick County Public Schools, shuttered city offices, and suspended trash collection.

A Frederick Block with a Troubled History

Monday’s stabbing marks the third time emergency crews have responded to the 1200 block of Danielle Drive for an incident involving multiple casualties.

March 2007: Five people were found dead at 1252 Danielle Drive in what investigators determined was a murder-suicide. Pedro Rodriguez and four children died in the incident, according to the Baltimore Sun reporting from that period.

The case shocked the Mountain View Condos community, a neighborhood of owner-occupied and rented units with condominium values around $200,000 at the time.

June 4, 2018: Terrance Ivor Watts, 26, died while in police custody after officers responded to a disturbance call on the same block.

The circumstances of Watts’ death prompted questions about the handling of the detention, though the incident received limited coverage at the time.

January 26, 2026: The current homicide investigation.

Residents who spoke to reporters after the 2007 tragedy described a neighborhood grappling with drug activity and rising crime concerns.

It remains unclear whether any connection exists between the three incidents beyond their geographic proximity. The 1200 block of Danielle Drive sits in a residential area of Frederick City, within the jurisdiction of the Frederick Police Department.

What Remains Unknown

Police have disclosed few details about Monday’s stabbing, and several critical questions remain unanswered: The identities, ages, and genders of the three victims have not been released.

Police have not indicated whether the victims lived at the address, were visiting, or had any prior relationship with one another. The department has not confirmed whether investigators have identified, arrested, or are seeking a suspect.

While police have not disclosed the motive, weapon, or whether the incident occurred inside or outside a residence, the absence of a public safety warning suggests investigators do not believe the public is at risk.
