Take a moment to imagine Selma, Alabama in March 1965. Imagine the march from Selma to Montgomery. It’s hard to believe that only fifty years ago, this country, the United States of America, still accepted laws that encouraged racial segregation.
Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man who committed his life to breaking down the racial divide in our country and fought for the rights of all men and women. Civil rights are human rights. Dr. King paid the ultimate sacrifice. He paid his life to a movement that continues today.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” – Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr.
Keep the dream alive, and never stay silent when you know what’s right is right.
Today is for you, Dr. King.
