Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich (D) pens a letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Greg Slater, requesting additional time for Montgomery County residents to respond to the draft environmental impact statement for the governor’s proposal to overhaul Interstates 270 and 495 in an effort to relieve traffic gridlock.

Story 2: Franchot says no to proposed PG County property tax hike

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot (D) wrote a letter to the Prince George’s County Council to express his opposition to a proposed measure that would increase Price George’s County residents’ property taxes.

(UPDATE: The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, July 21 that Prince George’s County Council “unanimously tabled” the measure “that would have asked voters whether to allow the council to weaken the homestead tax credit.”)

Franchot announced in January – first reported by A Miner Detail – that he will launch a 2022 Democratic gubernatorial primary bid.
